Welcome to Tribeca Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  Our practice is a state-of-the-art facility located in Tribeca in lower Manhattan.

We treat a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, jaws and facial regions.  We are fully equipped and certified to provide general anesthesia and intravenous sedation as well as nitrous oxide inhalation to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Doctors

Brett J. King, DDS

Dr. Brett King is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. King received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.  Following his doctoral training, Dr. King completed a year of residency training in Dental Anesthesiology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. King next completed four years of surgical residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loma Linda University and its affiliated hospitals in Southern California.  During the final year of his residency, Dr. King served as the Chief Resident of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  The emphasis of his training included: corrective craniomaxillofacial surgery and orthognathic surgery, complex maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, placement of dental implants, dental extractions, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, maxillofacial pathology, cosmetic facial surgery and pre-prosthetic surgery including bone grafting.

Dr. King has lectured on oral and maxillofacial surgery at a variety of national and international scientific meetings and has published a number of papers and abstracts on the subject.  In 2003, Dr. King was included in a team of surgeons who traveled to Vietnam to instruct local surgeons in modern methods of orthognathic surgery and performed a variety of procedures on local patients pro bono.

Dr. King is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, a fellow in anesthesiology of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, a member of the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Society and the New York County Dental Society.  Dr. King holds an academic appointment at St. Barnabas Hospital where he is active in teaching residents in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Pediatric Dentistry and General Practice Residency programs and is also on staff at Beth Israel Medical Center, performing oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology.


James M. Uyanik, DDS

Diplomate, American Board of Orofacial Pain

Dr. Uyanik is the director of the Tribeca Center for Facial and Head Pain and is board certified by the American Board of Orofacial Pain.  Prior to establishing the Tribeca Center for Facial and Head Pain, Dr. Uyanik was the director of the Center for Oral, Facial and Head Pain at Columbia University Medical Center.  Additionally, at Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Uyanik served as Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and as a Clinical Attending at The Headache Center within the Division of Neurology.  He has been the course director for five different pain management related courses at Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Uyanik has completed a post-doctoral fellowship/specialty training in Orofacial Pain at UCLA Medical Center where he studied pain management and treatment focused on the chronic facial and head pain sufferer.  Dr. Uyanik is well recognized by his specialty and has lectured extensively at national and international conferences in the field of pain management.  Dr. Uyanik continues to play an active role in pain research and has published numerous scientific articles.  Recently, he was featured on ABC News as an expert in the field of facial pain and headache management.

Dr. Uyanik treats a wide variety of facial pain and headache disorders and frequently treats patients with complex and severe long-standing problems.  His areas of expertise include the treatment of myofascial pain, headaches, neuralgia, atypical facial pain, neuropathic pain, dystonia, sleep apnea, and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ/TMD).  Dr. Uyanik understands the complexities of these problems and employs a team approach including neurologists, anesthesiologists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons and rehabilitation/physical therapists as needed.
